Set against a landscape of plains and mountains, Luoyang is one of the four great ancient capitals of China. It is home to The Longmen Grottoes, one of China's three most precious treasure houses of stone sculptures and inscriptions. Luoyang also prides itself on its many temples, including the Shaolin Temple. This was the place of origin for Chinese Zen Buddhism and the cradle of Chinese Martial Art.
