Budapest
Budapest is in north central Hungary, some 250km southeast of Vienna. The focal point is the Danube River, which bisects the city into two distinct parts: Buda is mostly residential and built on the hills and high river terraces of the western side and Pest is the commercial part of the city. Budapest’s UNESCO World Heritage sites include the banks of the Danube, the Buda Castle Quarter, Andrássy Avenue and the Millennium Underground Railway. The neo-Gothic Parliament building, that houses the Hungarian Crown Jewels, is a dominant landmark of the city and the largest building in Hungary.
