The Kingdom of Sweden is a Nordic country in Northern Europe. It lies beside the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Bothnia with the coastline forming much of the Scandinavian Peninsula. Although so far north most of Sweden has quite a pleasant climate with mild temperatures all year round because of the nearby Gulf Stream. Swedish writers have won the Nobel Prize for literature seven times and the country also has a great music tradition – the band ABBA came from Sweden. The capital of the country is Stockholm.
